For Mastermind Youth Foundation’s STEM revitalization pilot project in the Lambton-Kent region, we worked in partnership with two local French Minority Secondary Schools, Franco-Jeunesse and Saint-François-Xavier, to revive both of their robotics program by creating a Francophone FRC team, Francobots!!
Francobots, is Sarnia Ontario’s last remaining FRC team, one of two who now remain in the entire Lambton-Kent region. Our team comprised a total of 20 students, 4 teachers, 8 mentors, and 18 sponsors, which contributed to Francobots success.
The work accomplished through this program inspired 3 graduating students to pursue post secondary education in Engineering, and other younger students to want to continue with extracurricular robotics in the coming years.
Due to the pilots great success, Mastermind Youth Foundation will persist to promote STEM education in the Lambton-Kent community by working to support our minority communities, and begin work to expand its programs to other communities and age groups across the region.
