Animal Rescue

November 20th, 2026

A baby animal has become separated from its parents and is trapped on the other side of the forest. Your team has been called to help bring the baby animal safely back to its parents. To complete the rescue, the baby animal will need to travel through four different zones of the forest while collecting the supplies it needs along the way. Be careful! Water, dirt, sand, and leaves are danger zones. If the baby animal enters one of these areas, it can become trapped and the rescue will become more difficult.

The Challenge

Build a robot to successfully get the baby animal back to its parents on the other side of the forest. Along the way, you will need to travel through different zones without getting caught in a danger zone. If the baby animal gets caught, it will have to restart from the beginning of that zone. The baby animal will also need supplies to help it survive and stay happy during its journey. Your team must collect a minimum of 2 supplies, but you can collect more if you are able to!

Rocket Resupply

April 30th, 2027

Your team has been chosen for an important space mission! An astronaut is currently on Mars and is running low on essential supplies. The astronaut needs your help! Your mission is to design and build a rocket that can carry supplies all the way to Mars to help the astronaut. Your rocket will need to launch into the air, stay in the air for as long as possible, and make a successful landing when it reaches Mars with all but most of the supplies to still be attached.

The Challenge

Your challenge is to build and launch a bottle rocket that can stay in the air for as long as possible while surviving the landing. You will have the opportunity to experiment with different attachments, shapes, and parts of your rocket to see how each change affects its flight. Test your ideas, make adjustments, and see if you can improve your rocket’s performance!

Mars Rover Mission

June 4th, 2027

Emergency! A rocket has crash-landed on Mars, leaving important pieces of the spacecraft scattered across the planet. Without these pieces, the rover cannot repair the rocket and return safely to Earth. Your mission is to program and guide the rover across the surface of Mars to find and collect all of the missing rocket pieces. The rover will need to travel through different areas of Mars, avoid obstacles, and carefully collect each piece. Once all of the pieces have been collected, the rover must bring them back and rebuild the rocket so it can finally make the journey home to Earth.

The Challenge

Your challenge is to build and program a rover that can navigate across Mars, collect all of the scattered rocket pieces, and bring them back to the launch site under time pressure. You will need to experiment with different rover attachments designs and codes to determine the best way to collect and transport each piece. Once all of the pieces have been collected, your team must rebuild the rocket so it can make the journey back to Earth in under 2 and half minutes!

Rush Hour Rescue

June 30th, 2027

A bustling city has been cut off after its main bridge collapsed, leaving vehicles stranded on both sides of the river. As part of an elite team of engineers, your challenge is to design and construct a new bridge that reconnects the city. The structure must stand independently, span the river securely, and withstand the heavy traffic of rush hour. Your mission: build a strong, stable bridge that restores the city’s flow and proves your engineering ingenuity under pressure.

The Challenge

Work together as a team to design and build a sturdy bridge using the materials provided. Your bridge must span the 3-foot gap between two desks, stand independently without support from your hands, and be strong enough to hold as many weighted toy cars as possible without collapsing.
